A June to remember!
The past month has been a fruitful one for Hot To Trot 2, with three excellent winners in the space of three weeks! Dorothee got the month off to a great start with a comfortable win at Yarmouth under the excellent young jockey Harry Davies. Trainer Charlie Fellowes has always been confident of this filly’s ability, but she has not been straightforward to train and so to her head in front on only her third start was a huge achievement! She is a beautifully bred filly, being a full sister to the superstar sprinter The Tin Man, and a half sister to the very talented Deacon Blues, and has a big future ahead of her now that she understands what the game is all about!
The three year olds continued to fly the Hot To Trot flag with Emily Post following up Dorothee’s win somewhat cosily at Carlisle! She was given an excellent ride by PJ McDonald and perfectly prepared by Ed Bethell, who knows this filly and her quirks inside out and is really starting to get the best out of her.
The third thrilling win of the month came from two year old Rage Of Bamby on her debut at Newbury. She has always been well thought of at home and proved it on the track when showing huge ability despite a little green-ness and getting up to win by a short head. Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton has made no secret of this filly’s talent and was very surprised at the long price she started at! This sharp little filly is hugely exciting for the second half of the season!
Things have been equally busy for Hot To Trot 1, with a fabulous run from Hot To Trot’s flag bearer Roman Mist in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom on Derby Day. She travelled incredibly well in the grade and almost looked like the winner at one stage, but ended up in the third spot behind two incredibly talented Cheveley Park fillies. This filly just continues to delight us with her improvement every run – what a star! Hot To Trot 1 was represented again in stakes company when Get Ahead ran in the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown, where she finished a most respectable fourth. She raced a little keenly, as she can tend to, and so has every chance of continuing to improve when she learns to settle.
All in all, an outstanding month for Hot To Trot Racing! Huge congratulations to all our members and to the trainers, jockeys and stable staff involved with the horses. Let’s hope it can continue on into July!
