2019 Bay filly by Jack Hobbs ex Rosita Bay (Hernando)

This filly, new to Hot To Trot for this season, is by young sire Jack Hobbs. Runner up in the Derby to Golden Horn and winner of the Irish Derby, he has been popular as a National Hunt sire and has made a good impression with his early runners this year.

The dam, Rosita Bay, is out of the 9-time winning mare Lemon’s Mill, who won the Grade 2 Mersey Novices Hurdle at Aintree and was second in the Grade 1 Supreme Novices at Cheltenham for Martin Pipe. Rosita Bay herself won two bumpers and two hurdle races, and since going to stud has produced 3-time winner Storming Strumpet, and most significantly the extremely talented, multiple Grade 1 winning stayer Thyme Hill. She is a very attractive filly who, like Thyme Hill, is not huge but very athletic. She will now gain experience over hurdles before having a summer holiday, and she will hopefully thrive next season in staying handicap hurdles.
