ABOUT HOT TO TROT
Founded in 2011 by Sam Hoskins and Luke Lillingston, Hot To Trot Racing have been providing our members with top-tier racing action year after year, all while keeping things fun and affordable. Our stars like Heartache, Kurious, and Get Ahead have brought home victories at top meetings like Royal Ascot – but it’s not just about the horses; it’s about the people we bring together.

Sam Hoskins
Sam Hoskins is the driving force behind Hot To Trot, keeping the show on the road day in, day out. Masterminding unforgettable racedays and events, and chatting with members, Sam is at the heart of everything we do.

But his passion for racing doesn’t stop there. Sam also manages Kennet Valley Syndicates and runs a small but spirited breeding operation of his own. He brings a wealth of experience to the table, having worked with one of the most prestigious names in racing – the Niarchos Family – and has served on both the ROA and TBA Boards. He currently sits on the BHA National Hunt Pattern Committee, helping to shape the future of jump racing.
A self-confessed form book fanatic, Sam’s eye for detail paid off when he won the coveted Racing Post Tote Ten To Follow competition in 2008/09. These days, he channels that same racing brainpower into planning campaigns for Hot To Trot’s stars and plotting summer glory with the Scoop6 Syndicate.
In short, Sam lives and breathes racing – and he’s here to share the thrill of the sport with every member of our community.

Luke Lillingston
Luke Lillingston knows a good horse when he sees one, which is lucky for our members! Through his bloodstock connections he’s helped pick out some seriously talented racehorses, who’ve gone on to shine on the world stage.

We’re talking top-level winners like Art Connoisseur (a double Royal Ascot champ), Valentine Waltz (French 1,000 Guineas winner), the brilliant Red Evie, and Wigmore Hall, who racked up major wins in Dubai and Canada. Oh, and don’t forget Square Eddie in Kentucky and Sunny Sing in Hong Kong – the list goes on.
Whether it’s a windswept sale ring or a sun-soaked parade ring, Luke has a knack for picking out future champions. He’s travelled the world doing what he loves – helping people find their next big winner.

Tara Melik
If Hot To Trot Racing runs like a well-oiled machine, Tara is the engine behind it all. From managing memberships and planning events to sorting accounts, she keeps the show on the road with calm efficiency.

Tara doesn’t just work behind the scenes, though – she loves getting out to the races and stable visits, always making sure our Members feel welcome and get that all-important up-close experience with the horses.
Her background is as varied as it is fascinating. Before joining Hot To Trot, Tara put her brilliant admin skills to work in everything from charities to private households. She’s worked in prisons, supported small businesses, and somehow balanced it all while raising her two children, Lois and George.
Tara first crossed paths with Luke way back in 1992, when he was just starting his journey as a bloodstock agent and she was ready for a change of pace from City life. She helped him out with admin back then, and when Hot To Trot took off after Heartache’s big Royal Ascot win in 2017, it was only natural she came on board full-time.
Outside of work, Tara is always on the go – whether she’s smashing balls on the tennis court, braving the elements as an outdoor swimmer, or taking in a play at the theatre. She’s also rarely seen without Twig, her lovely terrier.

Georgina Bell
Horses have always been at the heart of Georgina’s life. Growing up at the renowned Mount Coote Stud in Ireland, she was immersed in the world of racing and breeding from day one – and she hasn’t looked back since.
A talented rider from an early age, Georgina represented Ireland in the Junior and Young Rider European 3-Day Eventing Championships, and took home the Punchestown National Championship title in 1984. Her love of competition and natural horsemanship later saw her become a key part of some of racing’s most iconic moments.
During her 23-year marriage to trainer Michael Bell, Georgina was closely involved in the Derby-winning journey of Motivator in 2005 and Sariska’s Oaks triumph in 2009. An accomplished work rider, she’s sat on some truly exceptional horses – including multiple Group 1 winner Red Evie – and has ridden out for legends of the game like Henry Cecil, Roger Varian, John Ferguson and Nick Wright.
These days, Georgina brings her wealth of experience and love for the sport to Hot To Trot, where she’s a hugely valued member of the team. You’ll often find her hosting Members at the races or chatting with owners at our events, always with a warm welcome and a good story or two.
Why Join Hot To Trot
We pride ourselves on being a friendly bunch. We also think we’re the most social syndicate out there! There’s always something going on – whether that’s taking advantage of Hot To Trot Travels’ trips abroad, a trainer’s yard visit, a morning on the the gallops to see the horses being put through their paces, a stud visit somewhere rather lovely, or an early course walk followed by a well-deserved breakfast. Membership certainly has its rewards!
We always have a busy, thoroughly enjoyable social schedule. To give you a taster of what’s happening over the next few months we are looking forward to: a course-walk and racing at Chester, a trip to France, dinner and a guest speaker at the Jockey Club Rooms and picnics at the Oaks and Glorious Goodwood. Stable visits to Hughie Morrison, Harry Eustace, Ed Walker, Hugo Palmer and others are in the diary, and there will be plenty more events to follow.
“Hot to Trot has been the most fun and enjoyable way to ‘own’ a racehorse. We have had 13 years of accessing all aspects of the racing world thanks to the knowledge of Luke and Sam. We have made many new friends and very much enjoyed all the extra curricular activities.”

Speak to Sam on +44 (0)7791 746119 for further information and to secure your place. Don’t miss out on what’s sure to be lots of excitement ahead for Hot To Trot Racing and its members!

FLAT SYNDICATES
Hot To Trot 1 and 2 Hot To Trot are our successful Flat racing syndicates. The syndicates run on a calendar year basis, from January to December, and membership is limited to 80 members. 2 Hot To Trot has just celebrated our 100th winner at Newbury!

HOT TO TROT JUMPING
Our National Hunt syndicate runs from September 2025 until May 2026 – with any prize money won split pro rata and paid out at the end of the season. Last season we enjoyed great success with the inaugural Jumps team, and are hoping for more exciting days at the racecourse this coming season!
Our TRAINERS
All our Flat and National Hunt trainers have a keen eye, great training ability and a proven track record. Each trainer is a character in his or her own right, as well as being a familiar face for those ‘in the know’, ensuring positive interactions and lots of fun. You’ll meet with your trainer over breakfast and stable visits, pre-race paddock chats, and hopefully celebrations in the winner’s enclosure!
Our Horses
So how do we manage to get great horses with fantastic breeding at a cost that’s affordable for our members? Quite simply, we lease them! With the exception of Nicolai this season, all our horses are fillies that will then go on to produce their own impeccably bred progeny at a later date. Visit our syndicate pages for further details on each horse and trainer.
“Sam Hoskins is an absolute star! He has been consistently impressive, displaying skill, integrity and friendliness throughout. We were in the Hot Secret syndicate which was so exciting and we were at Royal Ascot for Heartache’s win which was the highlight of many exciting times. Congratulations to Sam and his team on their 100th winner!”
Wendy
“Both Sam and Luke have extensive knowledge and contacts in the bloodstock and racing world, which has enabled them to access some tremendous fillies. Surely there can be no other racing syndicate producing as much ‘bank per buck’ for all round enjoyment.”
Nick
“Don’t miss out! This is a great opportunity to get involved in ownership, without spending a fortune. Being involved in Hot to Trot has been hugely enjoyable and exciting; racing our horses (and sometimes winning!), stable visits, stud visits and more. It’s brilliantly organised and tremendous fun!”
