End of season lunch – take two!
It was frustrating to have to postpone our annual End Of Season Flat Lunch at Newbury in the autumn due to racing being abandoned, but a real treat for a dreary February day to be at the lovely Retreat at Elcot Park for lunch with 94 of our Hot To Trot members and reflect on a fantastic season.
The afternoon began with fizz in the beautiful Atlas Room and a few words from Luke and Sam, before we moved into the Orangery where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. The company was excellent (as it always is with the Hot To Trotters!) and everyone enjoyed sharing memories from last year as well as looking forward to the upcoming flat season.
Luke and Sam took to the floor to talk a little about our new Flat teams for 2024 and we watched a short video from each trainer giving an update on our horse and a horse to follow for the season… Cards were marked!
The final element of the day involved the distribution of prizes won last season by our horses, of which there were a significant number given that Storymaker won four races and Sea Me Dance three, not to mention our other horses! We run a raffle for these prizes, with all proceeds going to the Lads and Lasses who look after our horses in training, and it is always very well supported.
This annual event is always one that we look forward to and is one of the perks of Hot To Trot Membership. This year’s postponed lunch was a wonderful chance to remember a great season and we have certainly whet the appetite for this year!
