NEW flat teams for 2025!

 In Latest News

With the turn of the New Year we start to look forward to the new flat season and with it our exciting teams of horses we have to go to war with in 2025! There is great strength and depth to our horse power this year, and our equine stars will be trained by a fantastic selection of trainers that include familiar faces such as Clive Cox, who of course trained our Royal Ascot winner Heartache, and Tom Ward who trained our much loved filly Roman Mist. We are equally delighted to have our first horses with two talented young trainers; James Horton in Newmarket, and Harry Charlton at Beckhampton, a place we know well having had horses with Harry’s father Roger over the years.

Sea Poetry wins on debut at Newmarket

The first group consists of a very exciting group of older horses along with three well-bred two year olds. Cabrera (Ed Bethell) was a wonderful filly for us last season, winning over £55k in prize money and rarely finishing out of the placings! She has done particularly well for her winter break and could be one to follow again this year. Personal Best (Jonny Portman) and Sea Poetry (Owen Burrows) both won on their sole two-year-old starts and we go into the 2025 season with high hopes for both. Wholehearted (Clive Cox) has always been held in high regard by her trainer and while she missed last season with injury, she could prove to be the best of a very good bunch! Another unraced three-year-old who we are looking forward to seeing on the track this spring is Luna Bay (Harry Charlton), a Sea The Moon filly out of the Group placed mare Crafty.

They are joined by three very well-bred two-year-olds; Baba Ganoush (Hughie Morrison) is a Nathaniel half-sister to the top-class stayer Marmelo, and Nicolai (Jack Channon) is from the wonderful Juddmonte family of Timepiece and Passage Of Time – he is an unusual recruit for Hot To Trot given that he is a colt! Finally, we have an unnamed Zoustar half-sister to Khunan to be trained by James Horton. A fine selection of horses by anyone’s standards!

Personal Best wins on debut at Leicester

Our second syndicate, 2 Hot To Trot, is led by the high-class filly Rage Of Bamby (Eve Johnson Houghton); now a five year old, she ended last season with a well-deserved Listed victory and we are delighted that she stays in training for another year – she will be a fun horse to campaign! Joining her are Easy Peeler (John and Sean Quinn), whose form figures read 121 before picking up an injury in the middle of last season. She is over that niggle now and one would hope that she will improve into her three year old season. Another that should have done well over the winter is Castellina (James Fanshawe), who heads into the new season off a favourable handicap mark and will hopefully be able to take advantage of this when we see her back on the track in the spring. We also look forward to the return of Skellig Isle (Tom Ward) who looks like she could also improve this season.

Rage Of Bamby wins the Boadicea Stakes (Listed) at Newmarket in October

The well-bred Daffodil Day (Clive Cox) is a full sister to the Group 1 winning Khaadem and while she took time to come to hand last season, she is one to look forward to when we see her on the track, hopefully early in the spring. Dreamasar (Ed Walker) is new to the team for this year but is also a three-year-old and so should be ready for action sooner rather than later. She is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Dreamloper and is from a family that we know well, so we are greatly looking forward to meeting this filly when our stable visits kick off in early spring-time.

The final addition to the team is a very nice unnamed 2 year old filly by first season sire Space Blues to be trained by David O’Meara.

2 Hot To Trot :

  • RAGE OF BAMBY (2020 filly Saxon Warrior / Rabiosa Fiore) – Eve Johnson-Houghton, Blewbury. 75% lease.
  • EASY PEELER (2022 filly Due Diligence / Satsuma) – John and Sean Quinn, Malton. 50% lease.
  • CASTELLINA (2022 filly Territories / Firenze) – James Fanshawe, Newmarket. 75% lease.
  • SKELLIG ISLE (2022 filly Mohaather / Kerry’s Dream) – Tom Ward, Lambourn. 100% lease.
  • DAFFODIL DAY (2022 filly Dark Angel / White Daffodil) – Clive Cox, Lambourn. 50% lease.
  • DREAMASAR (2022 filly Masar / Livia’s Dream) – Ed Walker, Lambourn. 50% lease.
  • Unnamed (2023 filly Space Blues / Coco Rouge) – David O’Meara, Upper Helmsley. 100% lease.

It is undoubtably a very exciting lineup and we couldn’t be more pleased with the team of horses we have to race this year! There are some top-class stallions in there along with the outstanding dam-side pedigrees, and we are delighted as always to be working with some wonderful owners/breeders who make the Hot To Trot concept possible.

We are in the process of finalising our events calendar which is packed full of fun and varied experiences for our Members to enjoy, starting with the first stable visits in early March. Very limited spaces remain in both syndicates so please get in touch as soon as possible if you would like to reserve your spot. Membership costs an all-inclusive £2400 for the season and the groups are restricted to 80 Members. Email sam@hottotrotracing.com or call 07791 746119 for more information!
