Kingston’s Lia (IRE)
Kingston’s Lia (IRE)
2020 Grey filly by Kingston Hill ex Knockara One (Snurge)
This new addition to the team is by the St Leger winner and Derby runner-up Kingston Hill. This sire is one proving popular with trainers due to the good nature and likeability of his progeny which certainly seems true of our filly. Her dam, Knockara One (who has already produced a useful horse in Redzor) is an unraced sister to the very talented One Knight, winner of the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase (Grade 1), now known as the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, at the Cheltenham Festival. More recently, she has Grade 1 winners Commander of Fleet and Death Duty in her very solid pedigree.
Kingston’s Lia is an active, athletic filly who was in pre-training last season in Ireland and is now ready to crack on with. She has a wonderful attitude and takes her work well; she could be seen to good effect in bumpers this season.

Trainer
Toby Lawes is a young trainer based near Dorking in the Surrey Hills. Toby learnt his craft at Seven Barrows, where he was Assistant Trainer to Nicky Henderson for 6 years and was the regular rider of the great Altior. Last season was a breakthrough one for Toby with the progressive Novice Chaser Surrey Quest winning the Mandarin Chase at Newbury and finishing an agonising runner up (by a whisker!) in the Scottish Grand National.
