2021 Bay filly by Muhaarar ex Zamzama (Shamardal)
Zambezi Diamond is by the multiple Group 1 winning sprinter Muhaarar, sire of last year’s French 2000 Guineas winner Marhaba Ya Sanafi amongst other good horses. She is out of the Shamardal mare Zamzama, herself a daughter of the very talented Nassau Stakes (Group 1) winner Zahrat Dubai so it is a lovely pedigree!
Zambezi Diamond has been a little too enthusiastic for her own good in her racing career to date, but she is learning all the time and it would be fantastic to see her break her maiden on the all-weather in the next few weeks.
Henry Candy has trained Classic winners and Group 1 stars aplenty from his Kingston Warren (outside Lambourn) yard across his long and esteemed career. In recent years, Henry has trained the likes of sprinters Limato and Twilight Son to Group 1 success, as well as Hot To Trot’s Kurious, a Group 3 winning filly. One of Henry’s best current horses Run To Freedom is also by Muhaarar so we know he likes our filly’s sire!
