Apeeling (GB)
Apeeling (GB)
2021 Chesnut filly by Showcasing (GB) ex Satsuma (GB) (Compton Place (GB))
This filly is by a very popular sire in Showcasing, sire of top-class horses such as Mohaather and Advertise, as well as our own favourites Get Ahead, Heartwarming and Showstoppa. The dam, Satsuma, is a sister to Group 2 Flying Childers runner up Astrophysics and has already produced a talented filly in Good Vibes, a sharp and speedy two year old who won the Listed Marygate Stakes at York and the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket.
She has enjoyed a short break this spring before heading into Andrew Balding’s yard in early summer. She came to hand nicely when in full training and ran well for a long way on racecourse debut. Andrew was certain she would learn plenty from the run and we look forward to seeing what she can do as she matures. She is leased from Whitsbury Manor Stud who have supplied many of Hot To Trot’s top horses over the years.

Andrew Balding enjoyed another stellar year in 2022, winning over £4.5 million in prize money and training over 130 winners, with the Group 1 winning exploits of Alcohol Free (the July Cup) and Chaldean (the Dewhurst) being highlights. Andrew took over from his father Ian at the historic Park House Stables, Kingsclere in 2003 and won the Oaks in the same year with Casual Look.
