Hot To Trot Jumps horses for 2021/22 announced

 In Uncategorized

The quality of the horses running for Hot To Trot Jumping has steadily improved year on year, and this year’s team really are an outstanding group of horses! The combination of three proven and progressive older horses alongside five extremely well-bred youngsters should result in a seriously fun season for Hot To Trot Jumps members! Read on to find out about the horses for this year…

The older horses returning for Hot To Trot this year have become real favourites in the time they have been in training for us! Lilly Pedlar has been a perfect demonstration of how patience can pay off with a National Hunt horse, and her trainer Nicky Henderson has handled her career beautifully to date. She gave us a real thrill last season when gaining black type in a Grade 2 mares’ contest at Newbury in March, before deservedly breaking her maiden tag at Ffos Las in May. She remains a novice over hurdles which does give her options, but her main aim this season will be novice chasing, as Nicky says she jumps beautifully! Another horse that may switch between chasing and hurdling this season is Trincomalee, for Newmarket trainer Lucy Wadham. Trinc has become such a favourite amongst our members, winning three races and being placed on numerous other occasions. He finished the season on a very respectable hurdles rating of 131, meaning he could be well handicapped over fences if Lucy decides to return down that route! He is a fantastic horse to have for the syndicate and should provide us with plenty of fun again this year. The final older horse returning for the season is Familiar Spirit, trained by Warren Greatrex from his new base at Rhonehurst Stables in Upper Lambourn. This mare has a little bit to prove this season, but her breeding and physique both indicate that she should improve with the time Warren has given her, and she should really come into her own this season when in handicap company over a longer trip.

The five unraced horses we have in training this year really are as smart a group of National Hunt horses as you could hope to have! Chabichou Dupoitou was in training last season with Phillip Hobbs and was declared to run in a mares bumper at Aintree before sustaining a pelvic fracture which ruled her out for the season. She is now fully recovered from this and the extra time to mature will have done her good. She is by a Grade 1 sire and out of a Grade 1 winner, so we have high hopes for her! Also in training last season was Last Of A Legend, a lovely filly trained by Harry Fry, who also trained her Listed winning dam Blue Buttons. This filly is now a four-year-old and should be ready to run in a bumper not too far into the autumn. The first of our newcomers to Hot To Trot is Heavenly Clouds, a cracking filly by Milan and out of Bobbing Back, making her a half-sister to one of the most celebrated chasers of recent years, Many Clouds. She is a fantastic looking filly and with a pedigree like this, she really could be anything – we are very excited to have her in training! She will be trained by Mel and Phil Rowley, new to Hot To Trot but very well respected within the National Hunt industry for their handling of young horses. Another new trainer we will be visiting this year is Amy Murphy, who has made an outstanding start to her training career with a Grade 1 win under her belt in just her second year training! She will train Symbolic Spirit, a Westerner half-sister to Carole’s Legacy and Mad Max. She is a strong and impressive looking filly who could be quite precocious, so we look forward to seeing her out in a bumper before too long! The final horse on the team this year is an unnamed Yeats filly out of a daughter of the wonderful Liberthine, who was a real superstar over the National fences for Sam and Robert Waley Cohen. This is a special filly who we will give plenty of time to mature – good things come to those who wait!

This really is a super group of horses to race, and we are so excited for the season! We have seen unprecedented demand for memberships of Hot To Trot Jumping this year, so we advise enquiring now to avoid disappointment!
